![]() This light is lightweight and easy to mount to any pistol or long gun, making it a great choice for on-the-go use. Maybe if someone else wants to roll the dice and test it out? For once, it won't be me.The Surefire X300U-A Weapon Light is a top-of-the-line choice for law enforcement and military operators. The Tier-1 Centurion does have a tension adjustable "lower half" though, so perhaps it might fit the Modlite's slightly larger hear. My own holster does not fit a weapon light unfortunately, as the one I ordered arrived before they made an X300U version available, but it really is a nice holster and if/when they ever make a Modlite one, I will definitely buy at that Time. It has a smooth ALS style mechanism and is a perfect fit for the LTT RDO with suppressor height sights. My understanding is that Modlite distributed specs and info about their light to major holster manufacturers.įor those who have no plans on ditching their Surefire X300U, the Tier-1 Centurion is probably what I'd consider the best alternative to a Safariland ALS holster right now. I contacted Tier-1 if they had any plans on making a Modlite P元50 holster for the LTT RDO, they said there were looking at it but no concrete scheduled release date. Will that extra ounce+ break you? That extra ounce of weight seems to make the Modlite feel studier in construction than the Surefire, and I certainly think the Surefire is a tough light. On my crappy bench scale it was 4.35 ounces vs 5.55 for the Modlite. The P元50 weighs more than the X300U with their respective batteries. Will the Modlite specific Phlster holster address the suppressor height sight issue? No idea, I used what I had and it seems to work, but it's up to you to decide if you would stake your life on it. Yes, Modlite and X300 Phlster will work with simple adjustment. Here's my previous notes about the Phlster X300 holster. If you want to find a good draw stroke, you have to make your own spacer for the holster adjustment screws around the sights. It works, but I previously had concerns about the suppressor height sight before and that has not changed. I did have to loosen the adjustment screws a little to get the Modlite to fit, which is expected since the Modlite head is a bit bigger around than the Surefire. The Phlster X300 holster will work with the Modlite P元50. If the light somehow had a way to adjust tension, that would have it an absolute 10 out of 10 light. ![]() I do think that my Modlite is a tad too easy to trigger the light on and off. I read that some people had switch problems with their Modlite. The switch on my Modlite works as intended. Is this better or worse than a Surefire? You decide, just don't shoot your hand, Mmm-kay? Mounting the Modlite was a bit more finicky than the Surefire, but at least with the Modlite you just unscrew the head to swap batteries. Does that ~1/8" make any tangible difference? Probably not, but why make it stick out farther (and make the switches farther out) if you don't need to. This allowed me to mount the gun as flush as possible against the trigger guard of an M9A1, where if I used the 1913 adapter it would have placed the light a fraction more forward. I mounted the Modlite with the "Universal" adapter. I may have measured the Surefire relatively higher than the Modlite on my gear, but given the intense spot on the Modlite, I'm sure that the Modlite would outthrow the Surefire by a good amount. Official "effective distance" as a standard kinda sucks though, and true effective distance is about half that, so it's better to say that the X300U has about 100 yards of usable throw vs a little over 200 yards for the PLH-V2 head, all on fresh batteries. This means the effective throw of the light is (let me use maths.) 213 meters for the X300U and 465 meters for the PLH-V2 head. The difference though is that the Modlite's intense spot will give you much better throw than the X300U (Officially "approximately 54,000 candela" for the PLH-V2 head vs 11,300 for the X300U). ![]() The respective websites state officially 1000 lumens for the X300U and "approximately 1350" for the PLH-V2. This is also on my rig and not yours (if you have one) so this is more of a relative measure to each other, not an absolute comparison to official numbers. This was only for the first few seconds, I did not measure sustained output. ![]() For comparison, I measured the Surefire at 1200 lumens with fresh CR123 batteries while the PLH-V2 head was 930 lumens. The Modlite P元50 with a PLH-V2 head has a pretty intense bright spot compared to a Surefire X300U. The final form, until the next final form. Just wanted to share a few initial thoughts (long-ish as is typical for me.).Įlite LTT with Holosun 507c-X2 ACSS and Modlite P元50-PLH-V2. I recently picked up a new Modlite P元50 and had a chance to install it today. ![]()
